ABOUT CLUB
[vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content”][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Moray Mavericks is an inclusive community basketball club that is open and welcoming to all.
Our aim is become a nationally recognised hub for basketball, coaching, participation, facilities, training and development.
We strive to create a real community atmosphere that everyone can feel apart of whilst they get supported to grow and develop as basketball players and people.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”1513″ img_size=”500×200″ alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content” css=”.vc_custom_1607439554437{background-color: #dd3333 !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”1517″ img_size=”500×350″ alignment=”center” css=”.vc_custom_1607809083515{margin-top: 40px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Moray Mavericks is the new relaunch of basketball and the club in the area, but the club has a very successful history as the Elgin Eagles.
The Eagles was established in 2008 and has been the driving force for developing basketball in Moray since then, and in that time was guided and supported by a large number of people: Andy Donegan, Stewart Gordon, Kim Patterson, Graham Stewart, Chris Lowen, Andrew Macdonald, Mark Burnet, Jamie Alexander, Emma O’Reilly, David McArdle Stuart McQuaker and Matt Moeller are all people who deserve a special mention.
During the last 12 years we have had lots of different sessions running for a variety of teams. This has included a ladies team, men’s team and U18’s, U16’s, U14’s and U12’s. The club also tasted success in winning the Grampian League and the Grampian cup. As well as also having teams in the finals of the Henderson Shield, Claymore cup and the Eagles Cup.
For over ten years now the club has been supporting and driving basketball in the area. Unfortunately due to a number of coaches moving on our session offerings had dwindled and with the enforced Covid break, it gave the new committee and members a chance to reflect on where we were at as a club and were we wanted to be. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content”][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Moving forward we felt like it was the right time for a relaunch with lots of new energy and people behind growing basketball in the area again.
We currently have a fantastic team of players, coaches and committee members all committed to our vision of supporting the growth of individual players and teams leading to making Moray a hub for basketball in Scotland.
If you would like to also be apart of our community and vision, please check out more of the website and get in contact – we can’t wait to hear from you![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”1612″ img_size=”500×200″ alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content” css=”.vc_custom_1606557445246{background-color: #dd3333 !important;}”][vc_column][stm_trophies title=”Current Champions!” per_row=”4″][stm_trophy image=”1634″ year=”2019 – Matt Moeller” title=”Allstar Captain Winner”][stm_trophy image=”1636″ year=”2020 – Brook Jones” title=”3 Point Champion”][stm_trophy image=”1600″ year=”2020 – Lachlan” title=”Skills Champion”][stm_trophy image=”1601″ year=”2020 – Robertas Venckunas” title=”Allstar MVP”][/stm_trophies][/vc_column][/vc_row]
