MORAY MAVERICKS YOUTH PROGRAMME
The Mavericks Youth Programme has a wide range of sessions so there is a place for everyone in our club! To the right you can see the timetable for every Saturday or Wednesday during term time. All the youth sessions are held at the brand new Elgin High School Sports Centre.
The aim of the youth programme is to develop players ability in basketball as all round players, with a focus on positionless basketball, meaning that all players should have all the skills needed to play any position. However the basketball skills in themselves are only small aspect of what we want to achieve as we will use basketball as a vehicle to help players grow as a person as well as a player.

Respect – Showing each other, the opposition and ourselves the respect we deserve. That means how we communicate with each other, but also others things like, how much effort we put in and how much commitment we show.
Inclusion – As a community club we treat everybody the same, no matter of ability or background. Every single person that leaves a Mavericks session should feel good about themselves and a valued part of the team. This is a fundamental principle of the club, and expect it of all our players and community members.
Growth – Having a growth mindset, and growing through basketball is why we are all here. We want to instill an attitude not of, “Can I?” but of “How will I?” improve or make progress in all areas of our players lives.
Honesty – Being honest with yourself and other people is how you build strong relationships. Honesty is a corner stone that will let our players form the life long friendships with their team mates and coaches, that will help them succeed in their goals.
Teamwork – Basketball is a team sport through and through. We win, lose, grow, succeed, train, get setbacks, get challenged, progress and achieve as a team, always.
